About our Founder

My name is Tassia Gabbidon

Tassia Gabbidon is a Registered Psychotherapist specializing in working with Black and BIPOC individuals in their healing and wellness journey. Tassia has a Master of Counselling Psychology degree and advanced expertise in supporting youth, post-secondary students and adults in developing creative and collaborative strategies to better cope with life challenges, transitions and more.

Personal healing as envisioned by Tassia, involves healing through compassionate, inclusive care that allows individuals to explore their experiences without fear of judgement in a safe and supportive space. Tassia's approach centers on nurturing and embracing all parts of who we are, creating space for growth and self- discovery. Outside of her professional work, Tassia finds joy in connecting with family and friends, immersing herself in music and literature, exploring through travel and hiking, and grounding herself in prayer and pilates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is therapy right for me? What kinds of people go to therapy?

Therapy is for everyone. You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis or be in crisis to benefit from speaking with a therapist. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, coping with stress, unpacking past experiences, or simply looking for personal growth, therapy can support you.

There’s no issue too big or too small to bring into the therapy space. What matters most is finding a therapist who feels like the right fit for you. Many therapists offer free consultations to help you get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working together. It often takes a few sessions to really know if it’s a good match.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is often called an initial assessment. It’s a chance for you and your therapist to get to know each other. During this time, your therapist will ask questions about your background, life experiences, and current concerns in order to better understand your needs and goals. This helps lay the groundwork for a personalized plan moving forward.

Therapy is your space and you’re welcome to talk about whatever is coming up for you. It's also a space for you to ask questions, share anything that feels important, and begin building trust together.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy is private and confidential. There are a few rare exceptions to this (such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others), and these limits will be clearly explained in our first session.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 24–48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. This helps me keep the schedule available and fair for all clients.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not offer direct billing at this time. However, many insurance plans do cover psychotherapy provided by a registered therapist. I recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage. If sessions are eligible, I’ll provide you with a detailed receipt after payment that you can submit for reimbursement.
